Al-Ukhaidir Fortress is located in the southwest of Karbala, and it is considered one of the greatest and most wonderful Islamic monuments existing not only in Iraq but in the whole world, and one of the attractive tourist centers in the Middle East. Its niches, windows, and decoration are very similar to those of the Taq Khosrau building, and the capitals of its sculpted masters of alabaster are carved with Byzantine-style decoration consisting of leaves.
